Avi Sharma is a personality characterized by his positive attitude and energetic spirit towards life. His Journey so far:

He was born in the city of Ganganagar in Rajasthan and his later life took him to Bombay where he started his carrer with the authentic and traditional culture of Indian classical and music. He had registered his firm in the name of Indian Cultural Society Bombay year 1995. He is P.H.D in Indian classical Dance and music and was the first person in the Country to publish the ‘Practical Book’ of Bharat Natyam narrating a step by step guide to perform Indian classical dance and Arangetram along with the theory book.

He had also run ‘summer camps’ for children in Mumbai, Maharashtra comprising the training of skating, swimming, drawing and painting, dance, music, etc to nuture the children with extra curricular activities and letting them explore their inner capabilities and ultimately groomin them under professional staff and respective trainings.

He is a multi skilled and aspiring individual who had an inner light of spiritualism and devotion which led him to perform various ‘meditations’ and ‘asanas’ to find the ultimate supreme power, God. He achieved inner spiritual strength and satisfaction to find the fact that there is no other thing in this universe rather than the God, rest everything is moving towards the way of destruction. He realised that the main motive of getting this life is to realise the truth that spiritualism is a key to find the God at no other place instead but in our heart itself.

He travelled to various placed in abroad like England, Canada, Netherlands, etc exploring different things in this regard. He thought to create a platform where people could easily perform spiritual activities and gain the knowledge of the spiritualism and the Supreme Almighty. So, he made up his mind to serve his effirts to create a temple for the well being of the humanity and the people.

He migrated to Amsterdam in the Netherlands to serve this purpose and give his desire a practical shape of creating a temple in the name of ‘Lord Shiva Hindu Temples’ in Hoogoordreef, Amsterdam.

His Foundation:

The temple was established in June, 2011 by Avi Sharma with multiple idlos of Hindu dieties and Shivlinga under one roof to serve the religious needs of the Hindu community and satisfy their devotional deeds.

Nature of work of the temple:

The Lord Shiva Hindu Temples is solely a Hindu temple in the Amsterdam which was open for all the seven days of the week including Sundays for serving the Hindu community and also it is the only temple where ‘langar’ (food) is served to devotees for 365 days of an year.

The temple also is unique and renowed for the celebration of various Hindu festivals and ocassions in the same authentic trend as the way it is celebrated in India no matter whether it is celebrated at the outskirts of the country for serving the Hindu community to make them rejoice the spark of the Hindu festivals like Mahashivratri, Janmashtami, Karvachauth, Hanuman Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali, etc.

The temple organises various religious programmes and bhajan/kirtans with live orchestra weekly and monthly. The pravachans by the popular Gurus and Devis invited specially from India are done in the temple who narrate the religious texts and serve the ‘atmagyaan’ to the devotees.

Lord Shiva Hindu Temples is the only temple who is celebrating the festival of Dussehra by burning huge demon effigues of the demon king Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghanath by taking special neccessary permissions from the Government to celebrate the festival.

A ‘Grand Dussehra Mela’ is organised with various food stalls, fun rides for kids and stalls of Indian jewellery and apparels follwed up with a firework show as its special attraction.

Awards & Recognistions:

  • He has been recognised as the publicity ambassador of the HWPL(Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) an international peace organisation founded for global peace, alliance of religions and cessation of war based in Seoul, North Korea and honoured with certificate of recognition by the Chairman of HWPL, Man Hee Lee.
  • He has been remarked for his tremendous efforts towards hinduism and social services by the House of Commons and House of Lords, London, and complemented with a certificate by Garerth Thomas MP, Member of Parliament for Harrow West also awarded by the Mayor Mr. Nitin Parekh of Harrow Council.
  • He has been awarded with the certificate of excellence by the Indian Astrological Center in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The Lord Shiva Hindu Temple was established on 4th June, 2011 in Zuidoost, Amsterdam. Our sole objective is to serve the people with several religious and personalized services in concern to the Hindu religion in order to cater the spiritual needs of the people of the community. In a short span of time itself, we gained commendable and overwhelming support of the devotees from all over the Netherlands and neighboring countries that enabled us to take high leaps and reach new heights making us grow in our prospective arena.
